Harold Collins Obituary

Turners Falls---Harold J. (Bud) Collins, 92, was born June 18, 1925 to Harold J. and Josephine (Royer) Collins.

He was educated in the Montague Public Schools and graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1943.

 

Bud entered the service in the US Navy during World War II serving aboard the U.S.S Henry A. Wiley, destroyer minelayer, in the Pacific Theater of Operation. He attained the rate of Radioman Second Class and received the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with Four Stars, World War II Victory Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal, China Service Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation.

 

He graduated from Northampton Commercial College and went on to work for the U.S. Government Printing Office for the period of 1948 to 1955. He returned to Turners Falls and was employed as an auditor for accounting concerns in Greenfield, MA. and Bellows Falls, VT. He retired from Hallmark Color Labs in 1988.

 

He was a member of the Turners Falls VFW and the Montague Elks.

 

Survivors include his two brothers, Royer and his wife Marge and Gerald plus several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Helen, his brother Donald and his longtime partner Helen Stotz.

 

 Services are private. There are no calling hours. Following cremation burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
