Geraldine Jarvis "Geri" age 92 passed away on Thursday, November 24 in West Springfield. She was born in Springfield, Vermont on October 8, 1930, the daughter of George and Mabel Landers.
After moving to Greenfield, Geri attended local schools and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1948. She went on to become a Registered Nurse and married her high school sweetheart, Al Jarvis, when he returned from his military service. They raised two daughters in Greenfield after which Geri resumed her career in healthcare. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts as a Certified Nurse Practitioner, and worked in private medical practices and educational institutions, including Deerfield Academy and Elms College, until retirement.
Golfing was Geri’s passion, and she received many awards for her skill, including the title of Women’s Club Champion at Crumpin-Fox Golf Club in Bernardston. She also enjoyed driving throughout New England visiting historic sites and taking immense pleasure in viewing the natural beauty of the region. Friends of Geri will recall her enthusiasm whenever it was suggested they go for a drive. Historic Deerfield, Shelburne Falls, and Keene, New Hampshire were favorite destinations.
Among her survivors are her daughters Mary Lou and Kelly, as well as her granddaughter Cassie. Besides her parents, Geri was predeceased by her husband of 60 years and her sister Shirley.
A private service will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenfield and burial will be at a future date according to her wishes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charitable organization of the donor’s choice.
