Frances L. (Furtado) Beck, 76, of Montague Ave passed away Sunday 2/26/23 at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, after a lengthy illness and struggle with lung cancer. She was born in Montague on July 30, 1946, the daughter of Manuel and Josephine (Dodge) Furtado. Frances attended local schools and received her certificate in hairdressing.
She was a hairdresser for many years in various local hair salons. Frances was also employed at the United States Post Office in Erving, Wendell and Lake Pleasant.
Frances was a member of the Lake Pleasant Women’s Club. She enjoyed crafts, bowling, archery, bicycling and mini golf. She loved family dinners and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Besides her beloved husband of sixty one years, Robert Beck, Sr., Frances leaves two sons, Robert Beck, Jr. and his wife Lisa and Scott Beck; two daughters, Mary Bordeaux and her husband Mark and Lisa Beck-Barsaleau and her husband Craig; five siblings, Marion Linscott, Mike Furtado, Dodie Torres, Helen Furtado-Williams and Mark Furtado; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday 3/12 from 2-4pm at the Montague Lodge of Elks, 1 Elks Ave, Turners Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, Ma 01701-9376.
