Eleanor A. (Sojka) Cheney

Eleanor A. (Sojka) Cheney, 97, of Bernardston, MA, passed away on May 9, 2022. She was born on November 5, 1924 to Joseph and Josephine (Midura) Sojka in Turners Falls, MA.  Eleanor graduated from Turners Falls High School.  On September 26, 1953, Eleanor married her beloved husband, William L. Cheney.

Eleanor was a cherished mother, Nana and eventually great-Nana.  She enjoyed walking and was an avid reader with a wonderful mind. That said, there was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with her family. She was always so happy when the whole family got together. The sound of their laughter always brought such a sunny smile to her face.

Eleanor is survived by her son, William J. Cheney and his wife Rhonda of Bernardston and their children, Kristin, Megan, and Nathan; by her daughters, Joanne Rioux and her husband Wayne of Colchester, CT and their daughters, Chantalle, Taylor and Lauré, and Kathleen Fuller and her husband Michael of Montague and their daughters Nicole and Jessica; her great-granddaughters Kourtney, Liliana, and Olivia; her sister Joanne Budzinski of East Greenwich, RI; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her husband in 1991; her brothers, Edwin, Walter, and Eugene Sojka, and by her sisters, Helen Walichowski, Irene Flynn, and Regina Anderson.

Services will be private.
