Edwin G. Traceski, 74, of Wells Street in Greenfield passed away on Saturday 4/2/2022 at the Greenfield Rehabilitation and Nursing Center (Formerly Poet's Seat) in Greenfield. He was born in Greenfield on October 6, 1947, the son of Constantine and Josephine Traceski. Peach as he preferred to be called resided in Montague his whole childhood.
He graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1965 where he was very involved in sports especially football and baseball.
He met his first wife in high school Brenda, and they had 4 children Donna, Timothy, Kimberly and Tammie who all unfortunately passed away in a house fire in Greenfield in 1969.
After this unfortunate event Peach was drafted and served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War.
Following the war, he worked at several places including the Town of Greenfield and the Erving Paper Mill. He was a prep cook for Deerfield Academy and Stoneleigh Burnham Schools. His final job which he retired from was at the old Oxford Pickle in South Deerfield, MA.
His hobbies/interests included reading the newspaper daily, enjoying crossword puzzles, watching sports and movies on television, playing cards and spending time with his family.
Even through all the tragedies and his multiple health issues Peach always tried to stay in a positive attitude and was there for his family when needed. He was loved by all who knew him.
Besides his parents, first wife and kids. he was predeceased by 2 brothers Robert and David Traceski as well as 1 other child Alicia Day of cancer in 2001.
He met his beloved wife, Linda (Sturtevant) Traceski in 1980 and they were married on December 10th of 1982 enjoying 39 years of marriage. They had 1 child together Christian R. Traceski of South Deerfield, MA. Peach is also survived by 1 grandson Oscar M. Traceski also of South Deerfield, a brother Donald of Millers Falls, MA, several nieces and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 4/7/22 at 10am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield. Burial will follow at Green River Cemetery in Greenfield.
A calling hour will be held Thursday morning from 9am until the time of the service also at the funeral home.
