Edward A. Call, 68, of Phillips Street passed away peacefully, Friday 3/19/2021, at home. He was born on May 28, 1952, the son of Leslie and Jean (Powers) Call. He attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School, Class of 1970.
Ed served in the United States Army during Vietnam.
He was co-owner of Call's Corner Store in Greenfield for many years, where he touched the lives of many, both young and old. Ed was a fair and compassionate person, never having a bad word to say about anyone. After selling Call's Corner, Ed held various jobs in the helping profession, until his retirement from the Brattleboro Retreat.
Ed's love of music started at an early age and continued through his adult life. He had one of the greatest and more powerful voices in the area. Some of the most notable bands he was in included The Royals, Road Work, Ambush and his last band, Chickenwire. He also wrote and recorded many original songs. It was always special to hear him sing a song upon request or at a family wedding.
Ed's greatest joy was spending time with his daughter, Sammi and his granddaughter, Nevaeh, whom he loved very much.
Among his survivors, Ed leaves his daughter, Sammi Call and her partner Curtis Weaver, his granddaughter, Nevaeh, all of Turners Falls; two brothers, Gregory Call and his wife Margaret "Peg" of Greenfield and Stephen Call and his wife Michelle of Millers Falls; a sister in law, Karen Call; his former wife, Patti Kain Call; his step sons, Steven and Chris Kain; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents, Les and Jean, Ed was predeceased by his son, Aaron Call; and two brothers, Robert Call and his wife Susan, and David Call.
Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
