Ed served in the United States Army during Vietnam.
He was co-owner of Call's Corner Store in Greenfield for many years, where he touched the lives of many, both young and old. Ed was a fair and compassionate person, never having a bad word to say about anyone. After selling Call's Corner, Ed held various jobs in the helping profession, until his retirement from the Brattleboro Retreat.

Some of the most notable bands he was in included The Royals, Road Work, Ambush and his last band, Chickenwire. He also wrote and recorded many original songs. It was always special to hear him sing a song upon request or at a family wedding.
