Dorothy (Pine) O'Riley Stotz

Dorothy (Pine) O’Riley Stotz, 97, of Sturbridge, formerly of Millers Falls, passed away peacefully at home on September 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving children. Born in Montague October 20, 1926, the daughter of Leon and Eva (Hemingway) Pine., she graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1946. 
Dorothy and her husband John T. O’Riley operated Bill’s Luncheonette in Millers Falls, MA., where they raised their three children: John (Lynn) of Turners Falls, MA, Fay Jean Simanski of Sturbridge, MA, and Irene of Myrtle Beach, SC. Her 42 years marriage to John was filled with happiness, square-dancing, bowling, golfing and much travel within the U.S.A.
While attending a class reunion in 1991, Dorothy became acquainted with and courted by Edward Stotz. With their marriage in 1993, Dorothy’s family was extended to include Ed’s children: daughter Sara (Jim) Bunt and sons Eddie, Michael, Danny, and Tommy. Ed and Dorothy enjoyed 23 years of marriage in Ocean Pines, MD. They also traveled to Canada and Alaska and wintered in Florida for many years. As a member of the Ocean Pines Golf Club, Dorothy achieved a hole in one at the young age of 86.
After Ed’s passing in 2016, Dorothy returned to live with her daughter, Fay Jean, in Sturbridge. She spent many happy hours playing computer games, doing jig-saw puzzles, completing sudokus, and enjoying her three great-grandsons. She was proud of the fact that the only medicine she ever took was an aspirin and a shot of Crown Royal before going to bed.
It was Dorothy’s wish that no flowers or contributions in her name be sent, and that the family and friends keep her in their prayers. All services will be private for the family.
