Donna Collins Obituary

Donna (Deyo) Collins, 76 passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2024.  She was born on July 30, 1947 in Athol, MA, the daughter of the late Geraldine (Chaisson) Deyo and Robert Deyo.  Donna was the most beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

Donna grew up in Orange, MA, graduating from Mahar Regional High School in 1965.  Those who knew Donna can attest to her unwavering love for her family and friends, who she always put first. She loved every minute of being a Grammy, always proud of their accomplishments, and never missed a day to cheer them on in every sporting event and dance recitals over the years.

Donna and Bruce enjoyed many years spending their summers on their boat on the Connecticut River and were members of the Franklin County Boat Club.  She worked as a billing specialist at the Buckley Nursing Home, then as a billing specialist at the Sleep Center in Amherst where she retired.

Besides her husband of 47 years, Bruce Collins, Donna leaves a daughter, Tawny Currier and her husband Dan; two granddaughters, Samantha Currier, and Madison Currier, and her partner Tyler Townsley.  She leaves a great granddaughter, Sophie Lynn Townsley who she loved with all her heart.  She also leaves a sister, Tammy Linnell and brother, Kevin Deyo, as well as her in-laws, Dede (Dick), Alan (Linda), Gary, John, Debbie (Ed), John, Rita and Kelly.  She was predeceased by her son, Scott Collins; brothers Bernie Deyo and Robert Deyo, and her brother-in-law Ted Linnell.  She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  In addition, she leaves her many dear friends who she adored and considered family. 

Services will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 from12 PM-2 PM at Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls.  A celebration will be held after the services at Terrazza Restuarant.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Westfield Homeless Cat Project Adoptions, 1124 E Mountain Rd, Westfield, MA 01085 or to Cooley VNA Hospice & Hospice, 168 Industrial Drive, Northampton, MA  01060.

The family would like to thank the Cooley VNA Hospice team for their loving care, and especially to Becca and Karen for their kindness, care and respect over the weeks.
