Dominick A. Lepore, Jr., 90, of Birch Street died Monday 2/24/25 at the Baystate Medical Center in Greenfield.  He was born in Springfield, MA on June 5, 1934, the son of Dominick A. and Giovannina (Tribuna) Lepore.  Dominick was a proud graduate of Agawam High School Class of 1952.  After graduation, Dominick served in the United States Marines earning the rank of Sergeant during the Korean War. He received the Korean, United Nations, National Defense, and Good Conduct Service Medals.  While serving for the Defense Department in Arlington, VA, he met his future wife, Janice Howard.

They remained in Arlington after their marriage on October 1, 1955, welcoming their first child in 1956. After his discharge, they returned to Agawam for several years adding 3 more children to their family.  They would celebrate seventy years of marriage this October.

He attended Springfield Tech, graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Computer Programming.  After accepting employment as a computer programmer for the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, he moved his family to Greenfield. He remained at UMass for over forty years. After his retirement, he was an EMT/Medic for Mercy and Baystate Ambulance for twelve years. 

Dom coached and umpired Little League and Babe Ruth baseball.  He refereed and coached for the Greenfield Hockey Association.  Dom and Jan enjoyed bringing their family camping on the rocks in Maine to Cape Cod and Rehoboth Beach Delaware.  He drove their station wagon out to South Dakota for family reunions.  They square danced with Trailtown Twirlers and bowled in weekly leagues. They owned a camp at Forest Lake with friends enjoying many hours of cards and hosting specialty meals (Dom’s was his spaghetti & meatballs with his legendary homemade sauce)!  He was also an avid boater at Franklin County Boat Club and participated as a precinct 3 town meeting and Recreation Commission member.  He was an avid sports fan, especially for UMass Amherst sports and was a season ticket holder for UMass Amherst hockey.  Dom enjoyed attending car races at Monadnock Raceway. He was very capable of fixing just about anything. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, crossword & jigsaw puzzles, tending to his koi pond and caring for many pets through the years.

Besides his beloved wife, Janice, Dominick leaves his daughters Karen and Cynthia (Steve), Diane (Brian) and son Steven (Joni-Sue) and nephew Roger Hughes (Jie).  He was the proud Papa to 8 grandchildren; Brian, Jacob (Angela), Emily (Christopher), Leah (Nate), Jennifer, Anastasia (Brandon), Erika, Brodie and grandniece Jaiwei.  Papa Dom leaves 6 great grandchildren, Vinny, Valentina, Lorenzo, Marcello, Anthony and Juliana as well as several nieces, nephews, sister and brother in-laws and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Edna, brother Alfred and wife Carmella and son-in-law Michael.

A Memorial Mass will be held Friday 3/14 at 10am at Holy Trinity Church, 133 Main Street, Greenfield.  A Celebration of Life will follow in the Father Casey Hall. A military honors burial will be held at a future date.

There will be no calling hours.
