Diane M. Sirum, 77 of Montague, MA, passed away suddenly yet peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 25, 2023. She was born in Springfield, MA on January 20, 1946, the 3rd of 5 children of the late Laurence Bohemier and Mary (Westcott) Bohemier.
Diane leaves behind beloved brothers Robert Bohemier of Florida, Gregory Bohemier of Colorado, and cherished sister Kristine Tremblay of Virginia. Her dear brother Larry Bohemier of North Carolina predeceased her in 2018.
Diane graduated from The High School of Commerce in Springfield, MA in 1963 and began working as a secretary at the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company also in Springfield. During a dance at Mount Tom in Holyoke, MA in 1964, she met her future husband of 50 years, the late Edward J. Sirum who passed in 2017. A country woman at heart, Diane left the city to build a life with Edward, marrying on October 1, 1966.
Two children would follow, Dwayne E. Sirum of Northbridge, MA, and Stephen J. Sirum of Montague, MA. Once the children were off to school, Diane spent several years working as a bookkeeper at the family business, Sirum Equipment Co., Inc. in Montague.
Artistic and methodical, Diane filled her life and home with her exquisite primitive and folk-art creations as well as finding peace and joy in her immaculate flower gardens.
Diane and Edward were fortunate to travel extensively, however her favorite journeys were on the backroads of New England to her favorite quilt, cross-stitch, and antique shops.
Making Grandma and Grandpa’s house one of love and fun, Diane’s Granddaughter Paige Blackburn of Hudson, NH, grandson Brett Sirum of Montague, and Great-Granddaughter Violet gave Diane supreme joy, as did her several nieces and nephews who knew and loved her as Auntie Diane. Diane always enjoyed visits with her brothers and sisters-in-law, as well as her friend and kindred spirit Anna. A quietly determined woman with a ready smile, Diane will be missed and remembered lovingly by all who knew her.
Calling hours will be held at the Kostanski Funeral Home in Turners Falls, MA. On Monday October 2, 2023 from 4-6 PM.
