Dennis Loveland Obituary

Dennis T. Loveland, 78, of Westfield MA, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family, Tuesday 3/12/24, at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born in Montague, on March 13, 1945, the son of Louie and Barbara (Bullard) Loveland.
Dennis graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1962 and then received his associate degree in business administration from Greenfield Community College.
Dennis worked in the grocery business in his early years, working his way up to Manager at Trifilo’s Market in Greenfield MA and then owning his own IGA in Ware MA.
After the grocery business, Dennis started his dispatching career in the trucking business with his longtime friend, David Flannigan.  He finished his 30 plus years as a dispatcher for Fleming Trucking in Suffield CT, retiring in 2015.
Grandpa made spending time with family his number one priority.  His children and grandchildren gave him the zest of life.  Dennis was an avid Boston sports fan, especially the Red Sox.  Grandpa loved talking sports with the boys, a history buff and listening to older classic country, specifically Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson, and good ole’ polka music.
Grandpa would come to his grandsons’ sporting events, whenever he could.  He also enjoyed going to Springfield and UMass hockey games and local horse shows with his family.
In his earlier years, Dennis was an avid fisherman and hunter; His love of the outdoors now resonates with his children and grandchildren.  He would take his children, nieces and nephews too, hiking, fishing or just skipping rocks at Barton’s Cove.
Many Sundays were spent visiting family at Gramies’ house in Montague Center.
The last 20 years, Sundays and holidays became a ritual at Pam and Paul’s, in Sunderland Ma, continuing the family tradition.  Grandpa enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and play and always loved “telling or hearing stories” and laughing and enjoying life.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents, Louie and Barbara Loveland, his brother, David P Loveland, his sister-in-law, Kathleen Loveland, his nephew, Andrew D. Loveland.
Among his survivors, Dennis leaves a son, Thomas Loveland; six daughters, Pamela Loveland-Spinale and her husband Paul, Tricia Loveland, Marcia Loveland, Lisa Loveland, Sarah Dewey and her husband Matthew, Amanda Thomas and her husband Evan; eleven grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Brandon, Ryan, Derek, Dylan, Dominic, Jacob, Caleb, Camden and Beckham; a brother, Donald Loveland; and a sister, Diane Loveland Gerrish and several nieces and nephews.
