Obituary

David J. Magelinski, 60, of Greenfield, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on August 14, 2023, at Baystate Franklin Medical Center. He was born in Greenfield on April 2, 1963, the son of Stanley J. and Cynthia (Peltz) Magelinski. He graduated from Frontier Regional High School in 1981. He attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the College of the Desert in California.
David worked for UMass Amherst where he took pride in his abilities to further shine the dorms with his carpentry and handyman skills. He learned many skills early on working with his brother-in-law Brenden, from Monahan Builders and Steve Roberto of Northfield. Travelling to warmer climates he had a career in golf course management for Big Horn and Cayman Isles.
Dave loved the simple things in life, putting his family first. His daily routine involved stopping to see his mom, and often visiting his dad. He loved long random drives with his fiancé, Ginger. He enjoyed running with his sister Sue and attending the ‘Y’ daily. He shared many beach trips and concerts with his sister Laurie.
Everything in his life revolved around nature – the beach, the sky, the stars, mountains, all things water and the changing of the seasons in the valley. His love of all things local include the Red Sox-through good and bad, NASCAR, music – especially WRSI, and the Boston Globe – cover to cover.
Dave leaves his mother, Cyndy Magelinski of South Deerfield; his fiancé, the love of his life – whom he was to be remarried to next month, Ginger Dubois; two sisters, Laurie Banas, her husband David, their son, Kevin, all of Hatfield; and Sue Monahan, her husband Brenden and their children Kyle and Joel (fiancé Kirsten) all of Whately; and many cousins. He also leaves Merma and Pumpkin, his two cats that he spoiled rotten.
Dave was predeceased by his father, Stanley and his lifelong buddy, Douglas Davies.
Funeral services will be held this Saturday at 11am August 19, 2023 at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield, MA. Calling hours will be held Saturday morning from 9am until the time of the service.
