Daniel Clogston, Sr., 66, of Greenfield, MA, died peacefully Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at home. He was born in Northampton on May 28, 1957, the son of Charles Francis Clogston, Sr. and Ellen Veronica (Dodge) Clogston.
He graduated from Smith Vocational High School in Northampton with a focus on electrical skills, and he continued to use them for the rest of his life. Dan was the Physical Plant Engineer at the Clarke Schools for the Deaf in Northampton for more than 30 years before building his own handyman practice.
He was incredibly selfless, always willing to lend whatever he could. Dan enjoyed collecting, including antique bottles, vintage lighters and baseball cards, and he was a big fan of The Beatles and The Doors. He was a huge animal lover, with countless pets throughout his life, including cats, dogs, a hedgehog, fish and a rescued squirrel. Dan loved computer gaming and ran an online gaming community for 10 years, amassing more than 50 members and friends. He also enjoyed repairing almost anything, from cars to computers.
Among his survivors, Dan leaves his son and fellow electrician Daniel Clogston, Jr., whom he raised with ex-wife Rebecca Clogston. They are joined by his brothers Charles Clogston, Jr. and Robert Clogston and his sister, Deborah Clogston
A celebration of life will be held at the Bluebonnet Diner in Northampton on Sept. 10 at 1 p.m.
