Claire (Emond) York

Claire (Emond) York, 83, of Old Sunderland Road died Wednesday 4/26/23 at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.  She was born in Quebec, Canada on June 22, 1939, the daughter of Arthur and Lauretta Emond.  
She was employed at Lesnow Manufacturing in Easthampton for many years. For a period of time, worked at Hallmark in Turners Falls. 
Claire enjoyed crafting, including quilting and knitting.  She loved playing games with her family and friends.  Most importantly, Claire was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, sister and aunt. 
Claire was predeceased by her beloved husband of sixty-seven years, Rodney York, just eleven days ago; her son in law, Walter Joseph Portayla; and siblings, Joe Emond, Irene Demers, Sylvia Miller, Althea Dawson, Jeannie Jones, Theresa Emond, Norman Emond, John Emond and Gary Emond.
Among her survivors, Claire leaves two daughters, Marsha Potyrala of Montague and Nancy Stafford and her husband Brian of Montague; two grandsons, Aaron Stafford and his wife Rilee and Ethan Stafford and his wife Nicole; a great grandchild, Carson Stafford; three brothers, Lester Emond, Paul Ostendorf and Bobby Emond; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
