Christene M. (Saledas) Libbares Obituary

Christene M. Libbares, 88, of Greenfield entered into eternal rest Sunday morning at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield, MA. Christene was born on November 23, 1936, to George and Asimoúla (Alice) Saledas and was a lifelong resident of Greenfield.
Christene was warm, engaging, and always willing to help others. She was a mother, aunt, cousin, and beloved friend. She welcomed everyone to her table, and no one left hungry.
Christene graduated from Northfield School for Girls and Becker College before becoming the Bridal Manager at Wilson’s Department Store, where she did local TV commercials and was on the Wilson’s bowling team. She later worked in several Franklin County departments at the courthouse, where she enjoyed meeting and getting to know citizens from around the county.
She is survived by her son, George Libbares; her daughters, Lisa Dale (Stephen Dale) and Georgia Libbares (Scott Ashworth); her grandson, Paul Dale; her dear cousins, Pauline Saledas, Arline Alto, George Veres, Maria Nocerino, and Julie Galvin; as well as extended family in the United States and Greece. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo G. Libbares, and her cousin, John Saledas, who was like a brother to her.
Christene was an animal lover and devoted pet parent. She had a cherished dog in her early years and later two beloved cats. She loved the wildlife that found sanctuary in her backyard, especially the rabbits. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed their numerous adventures, including marching in the Franklin County Fair Parade, trips to see the Red Sox play the Blue Jays in Toronto, and to Carlo’s Bake Shop, the original home of Cake Boss.
May her memory be a blessing and remain eternal.
