Chester J. Parda, 98, formerly of South Deerfield, died on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility in Greenfield. Born in Greenfield on August 17, 1924, he was the son of Stanley and Elenora (Nosek) Parda. Chester attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School, Class of 1943.
Chester loved his family; he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves his beloved wife of seventy-three years, Kathryn (Bartos) Parda, and three children, James Parda (Elizabeth) of Coventry, CT, Carol Corron (Alan) of Sutton, MA, and Steven Parda (Patricia) of Waukesha, WI; a brother, Donald Parda; ten grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua, Jordan, Anne, Lisa, Philip, Rebecca, Michael, Adam, and Claire; three great grandchildren, Brody, Ellie, and Autumn; and several nieces and nephews. Chester was predeceased by his siblings, Stella, Edward, Stanley, and Gladys.
Serving as a head lineman for the New England Tel & Tel for forty years before his retirement, Chet was also a dedicated member of the Telephone Pioneers, the V.F.W, and the American Legion.
A proud World War II Army Veteran, Chet served honorably in Normandy and at the Battle of the Bulge, earning a Bronze Star.
Chet was a faithful communicant of Holy Family Church in South Deerfield for seventy-three years.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Thursday 1/12 at 11am at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 29 Sugarloaf Street, South Deerfield, MA, 01373. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in South Deerfield.
A calling hour will be held Thursday morning from 9:30am-10:30am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield, MA.
