Charles N. Wing Obituary

Charles N. Wing, 44, of Upper Road passed away peacefully Saturday December 9, 2023 with his family by his side at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Burlington Vermont March 4, 1979, the son of Timothy Wing and Candace (Marvell) White.  He attended school in Deerfield, MA and Graduated from Frontier Regional High School with the class of 1997.

Charlie excelled at Cross Country and Track & Field. He ran in the 4x4 relay, and 400-meter dash, triple jump and long jump. He attended States for his performance and continued to assist the Track team even after he graduated. His athleticism didn’t stop there, as a child he was introduced to golf by his then stepfather William Erman which he continued to develop all his life and could frequently be found with his friends playing a round of golf for fun or a charity event whenever he could find the time.

He was an accomplished musician, singer and artist. In high school he was part of the chorus under the direction of Ms. Kathleen Moser where she fostered and helped him develop his love of music. With her guidance Charlie went to Districts several times where he performed exceptionally. Following high school, he traveled Europe as part of the American Youth Ensemble. He was born to perform and continued to pursue every opportunity he could, even being a performer at Dorney Park and later won Valley Idol in 2009.

That led to his serious pursuit of a musical career, honing his craft working for musicians and touring with Trent Thomlinson, among others. He worked in Nashville and throughout the South travelling as solo act and with the “Charlie Wing Band” eventually opening for Easton Corbin in 2014.

In addition to music, Charlie was a big sports fan, his favorite teams were the New York Giants and the Boston Red Sox, and most recently he was introduced to and became a fan of Monster Trucks to which he was introduced by his good friend, Ernie Tipton.

Charlie loved all his family with his big heart, and he often spoke proudly of his sisters and brothers and their accomplishments.

He also loved his friends; they became his extended family, and he enjoyed spending time with them every opportunity he could, whether they were around a fire in someone’s backyard or traveling across the country to see their favorite sports team play it didn’t matter – he just loved being together with them.

Charlie was also a dog lover. As a child he had two golden retrievers, Jeremiah & Jessie, but as an adult he didn’t bring home another pup until he settled back in Deerfield after years of exploring and living in different states. He loved spending time with his dog Manning and enjoyed his companionship, goof ball antics and overall, his big personality.

Charlie was a traveler, he explored much of the United States, and he recently traveled to Iceland with his Uncle Chris for a month.

Charlie had many occupations over his life, but most recently he was a bartender at the Quonquont Farm for their events.

Charlie leaves his mother, Candy White of Deerfield, MA , his father, Timothy Wing and his Step-Mother Susan of Rutland, VT, his siblings; Sarah Erman of Bernardston, MA , Melissa Erman of South Jordan, UT, Amy (John) Scannell of Alexandria, VA, Caleb Wing  of Mendon, VT, Dylan Wing  of Burlington, VT, his Grandmother Jean Newcomb of Montague, MA, Grandmother Peggy Flynn of Saugus, MA, niece Margaret Scannell, and his beloved dog Manning . Charlie also leaves many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will all miss him greatly.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Kostanski Funeral Home 220 Federal St. Greenfield.
