Charles B. Hunter of Leeds, age 78, passed away Monday March 17. Charles (Charlie) was born on December 12, 1946, in Springfield, Ma, the Son of Mary D. and Almon P. Hunter. Charles lived in Longmeadow Ma. until enlisting in the Air Force. He served in the Air Force from 1966 until his discharge in 1970. While in the Air Force he performed a tour in Thailand in support of the US effort in the Vietnam War theater. 
Charles was an avid runner (before it was popular) a gifted artist and piano player. He did these things well until he developed schizophrenia. His illness was to be lifelong and stole away from him all the trappings that a person can experience in life. Despite his illness he was never bitter or angry about it and was loving and kind to all.  
He is predeceased by his brother John and survived by his brother Paul his sister Mary and husband John, and his brother Jim and his wife Kathy. He was loved by his niece and nephews, Jeff Howard, Kate Hunter, Jamie Hunter, Patrick Hunter, Andrew Hunter and Brendan and Michael Coffey.
A visitation/service will be held on Friday March 28, at 10am, at Kostanski Funeral Home 220 Federal St. Greenfield. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Greenfield.
