Carmine A. Deprete, 85, of Turnpike Rd. passed away Sunday May 18, 2025. He was born in Montague, MA on October 29, 1939, the son of Carmine and Edvidge (Imbriglio) Deprete.
Carmine attended local schools and graduated from Turners Falls High School Class of 1959 where he played football, baseball and ran track all four years. He went to Barber School in Boston. Once he gained his Barber’s License he went to work for Sam Siano on Federal St. in Greenfield for a year. He went on to open his own shop called Carmine’s Barber Shop in Millers Falls for several years. Carmine went to work at UMASS for 31 years. He started as a groundskeeper then went to the lock shop where he became a Locksmith. After retirement he was a Security Guard for Deerfield Academy for several years.
He loved spending time with his great granddaughters Aryanna and Khloie. He was a member of the Montague Elks for 19 years, St. Stanislaus Society where he enjoyed playing cards there and at his friend Annmarie’s home with the gang. He also was a Turners Falls Sports Booster. In his earlier years he played softball for St. Stans and for the Baker’s Dozen in Millers Falls. Carmine coached Little League in Millers Falls for many years where he was instrumental in keeping up the fields and dugouts.
Survivors include his children; Anthony C. Deprete, Angela M. Cyr and her husband Robert, Robert P. Deprete and his wife Stacy. His granddaughter Jessica M. Hale and her husband Bryant, grandson Christoper C. Cyr and his longtime girlfriend Alexandra Deluca and his great granddaughters; Aryanna M. Hale and Khloie P. Hale. Carmine also leaves close friend Tina Gregg whom he thought of as a daughter. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Patricia on February 7, 2005.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Carmine’s name to any Children’s Sports Organization.
Calling hours will be held Thursday May 29, 2025, from 4-6 PM at Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Sq., Turners Falls.
