Bruce W. Collins Obituary

Bruce W. Collins, 77, of Turnpike Rd. passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday March 17, 2025, at home. He was born in Greenfield July 29, 1947, the son of Dean and Esther (Stinehour) Collins. Bruce attended school in Greenfield and graduated from Greenfield Vocational in 1965.  An Army Veteran, Bruce was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He served from 1966, until 1972, when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class.  Bruce worked at Kennametal for many years as a machine operator where he retired.

Belonging to the Franklin County Boat Club, he enjoyed many years boating, jet skiing and was a novice knee boarder. He had a passion for Harley riding, making many trips to various Harley events across New England with his other biker friends.  Bruce was not one to be still and would often find him working on various woodworking projects, small engine repairing and just about anything else that would keep him busy in his retired years.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, his beautiful wife Donna who passed away in 2024 and his son Scott who passed away in 2019, where he is now eternally reunited.  He leaves his daughter Tawny Currier and her husband Dan, his sister DeeDee Halderson and her husband Dick, brothers; Alan Collins and his wife Linda, Gary Collins, John Collins, sister Debra Gruszkowski and her husband Ed; granddaughters; Samantha Currier, Madison Currier (Tyler Townsley) and great granddaughter Sophie Townsley; sister-in-laws Tammy Linnell, Rita Deyo and Kelly Deyo, as well as many nieces and nephews, several close friends and his beloved cat Charley.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 28th from 1PM – 3 PM at Kostanski Funeral Home in Turners Falls where family and friends can pay their respects.  A celebration will immediately follow at the Franklin County Boat Club in Gill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Westfield Homeless Cat Project Adoptions in Westfield, or to Cooley VNA/Hospice in Northampton.
