Barbara A. (Greene) Rivet

Barbara A. Rivet, 80, who was born and raised in Turners Falls, passed away peacefully at home on July 26, 2022, with her four loving daughters by her side.  
She was born on August 14, 1941, the daughter of Melvin and Mildred Greene.  Barb attended local schools in Montague and was a graduate of Turners Falls High School Class of 1959.
On February 3, 1962, Barb married Robert Rivet and were married for forty-nine years before he predeceased her on May 24, 2011.
Barb worked in various school settings, retiring from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
She was truly the matriarch of her family, raising her four daughters and welcoming their numerous friends and eventually husbands into the home.  Barbara was smart, strong-willed, steadfast and loved her family fiercely.  She loved to sit and read a good book.  She loved family vacations, especially at the ocean.  Barb was an incredible cook and enjoyed feeding people.  Most of all, she loved being a grandmother and being surrounded by her daughters and their families. 
Among her survivors, Barb leaves her four daughters, Kim Wickline and her fiancé Rob Ryan of Greenfield, Karen and Everett Wickline of Northfield, Susan and Scott Campbell of Northfield and Sharon and Jody Coleman of Bernardston; her sister, Betty McCabe of Turners Falls; her beautiful grandchildren, Justin Hastings, Stefanie Dahl, Kayci Neff, Jaimee Dupuis, Morgan Demma, Alyson Huber, Cody Wickline, Talia Hicks, Terrell Hicks and Brett Coleman; eight great grandchildren, Carson, Vincent, Riddick, JJ, Charlotte, Lucy, Kynleigh, Kirra; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
Besides her beloved husband, Robert Rivet, Barb was predeceased a grandson, Joshua Hastings, her son in law, Stephen Hicks and her sisters Beverly Webb and Marilyn Koscinski. 
A memorial service will be held Friday 8/5 at 10am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls.  Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Gill. 
A calling hour will be held from 9am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
