Alfred J. Breor III, a Vietnam veteran and purple heart recipient, passed away on May 19th, 2026, at Charlene Manor in Greenfield.
Alfred, or “Butch” as he was known to close family and friends, was born to Alfred J. Breor and Eleanor M. (Herman) Breor on March 5th, 1947. He was raised in South Deerfield as the eldest of 12 siblings: Richard Breor, Barbara Skanse, Linda Lewis, Maureen Sheerman, Bonnie Reyor, Joann Morin, William Breor, Mark Breor, Darleen Breor, Brenda Arsenault, and Elaine Malanson.
Alfred joined the Army after graduating high school and upon his return he worked for Consolidated Cigar Corporation for many years and went on to work at Deerfield Academy for over 25 years from which he retired. He had no children of his own but was a big family man and was very involved in the lives of his many nieces and nephews. He liked playing cards and bingo, enjoyed watching the Patriots and Red Sox games, and listening to country music. He was a lover of eagles, and his home was decorated with the majestic American symbol. His favorite activity by far was spending time with his large family.
He leaves his partner of many years Marjorie Clark and is predeceased by his parents as well as his brother William.
Butch will be laid to rest at Erving Center Cemetery with military honors on Wednesday 5/27 at 10am.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening (5/26) from 5-7pm at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to The Dementia Society of America. https://www.dementiasociety.org/vascular-dementia.
