Agnes N. (Niethold) Ross

Agnes N. (Niethold) Ross, 99, of Old State Rd. passed away Friday March 24, 2023, at Greenfield Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born in Boston, MA on January 29, 1924, the daughter of Charles and Henrietta (Weigold) Niethold. Agnes attended local schools there and graduated from Sharon High School. She was a secretary and claims processor for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for many years.
She was very devoted to her family and taught Sunday School at Grace Union Church for many years. Agnes enjoyed knitting scarves with her daughter Jan, donating them to Warm the Children each year. Agnes also helped Jan at the Greenfield Community College Food Pantry, watched cardinals at her birdfeeders, conquered many jigsaw puzzles and loved watching the Red Sox with her son in-law, Brad. She also enjoyed spending time with her family every summer, for most of her adult life, in North Eastham on Cape Cod.
Agnes leaves her daughters, Janis Ross and her husband Bradley Peters of Erving (with whom she made her home), Paula Derosier and her husband Joseph of Chicopee, her grandson Donald Derosier, granddaughter Elizabeth Peters and great grandchildren Liam Collins and Maeve Collins. She also leaves her brother Arthur Niethold and her sister Clara Malinowski, both of the Boston area, plus several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Agnes was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Donald Ross Sr.  She was also predeceased by her son Donald Jr., her brother Charles Niethold and her sister Mildred Peterson.
A graveside service will be held Friday March 31, 2023, at 11 AM at Hillcrest Park Cemetery 895 Parker St. Springfield, MA 01129.
In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to a non-profit charity of the donor’s choice.
