William E. Burek

Turners Falls-William E. Burek, 46, of Marshall St. died Saturday (4/15/2017) at Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility under the care of Hospice.

 

He was born in Greenfield on September 16, 1970 the son of Henry and Jacqueline (Zabko) Burek. Bill attended Turners Falls High School and then went on to Greenfield Community College.

 

He worked as a surveyor for the State for many years and then for Valley Concrete as well as Labor Union 596, Marini Builders and D&D Drywall.

 

Bill was predeceased by his father Henry Burek, Jr.

 

He leaves his mother, Jacqueline Beaubien and his stepfather, Robert Beaubien of Turners Falls, his sister Kelly Burek Diemand and her husband Chris and his niece Sienna Diemand, who was one of Bill’s caregivers and Victoria Kaltner.  Bill also leaves his cousin Eli Marshall who was more than a friend, more like a brother, being only three months apart they grew up together and experienced life together and his special aunt and godmother Lonnie Marini and her husband Rick.

 

Bill was lucky to have his stepmother Joyce Phillips of Greenfield as one of his caregivers and he also leaves his siblings, Belle Burek McCarthy, Henry Burek, III and Katherine Burek and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves his beloved cats, Richard and Rachel who were with him for 14 years.

 

Bill was an avid reader, a big sports fan and trivia expert. He enjoyed crocheting, especially hats for family members, golf, fishing and loved cooking which he excelled at.

 

Bill was blessed with a large group of devoted friends and most appreciated by the family was the support he received form Dana Charest and Mark Duncan.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 30th from noon until 3pm at the Millers Falls Rod and Gun Club in Montague.

 

Donations in his memory may be made to Franklin County Sheriff’s Regional Dog Shelter, 10 Sandy Lane, Turners Falls, MA  01376 or Hospice of Franklin County 329 Conway St., Greenfield, MA  01301.
