Welcome to the memorial page for

Steven E. Sliva

May 4, 1952 ~ September 7, 2017 (age 65) 65 Years Old

A great man passed away on Thursday, September 7,2017 at the too young age of 65, but his
spirit remains with all those who knew and loved him.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather brother, uncle, and friend, Steven Edward Sliva was born
on May 4, 1952, the son of the late Stanley and Stella Sliva. He was a proud Greenfield resident
who advanced through the Greenfield School System and graduated from Greenfield High
School in 1970. After attending Greenfield Community College for two years, Steve began his
productive and satisfying four decade career at Esleek Manufacturing Company in Turners Falls
where he was respected and admired as a leader and mentor by his co-workers.

As proud as Steve was about his work ethic, he was much more contented at home with his
family and in the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he was happy to

share that passion with anybody who accepted his invitation to join him. Several friends had
that honor. Steve was the first to introduce his young brother-in-law to the sport of hunting and
both his wife and daughter became expert fishermen, boaters and canoeing enthusiasts because of
Steve's love of the water - rivers, lakes, and oceans.

In 1990, Steve moved his family to a terrific house nestled on a wonderful piece of land in the
great outdoors of Erving. For the next twenty-seven years, Steve was able to enjoy the outdoors
right outside his door, where he helped his wife work in the garden while happily enjoying the
many household and yard tasks that came with living in a rustic setting.

Steve was devoted to both his immediate and extended family. Several dogs and cats found
happy homes under his roof. Family was always welcomed at the Sliva homestead. Over the
years, Steve and his bride Leslie hosted countless family picnics, parties, celebrations, and
holiday gatherings. For many years, Steve and Leslie invited family members to join them on
their family vacations at various lakes across New England and at the family favorite, Hampton
Beach.

Polish and proud, Steve held true to his family traditions and customs. He was always there to
help relatives of the previous generation in their many challenges later in life. He was the first

to show up to help out contemporary family and friends in their time of need.           He was a

diehard Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox fan, and his family forgave him for supporting the LA
Lakers instead of the Celtics! Steve also enjoyed good music.

Steve was a terrific story teller. He appreciated and valued his friends. He loved his family.

In recent years, Steve battled several health and physical challenges but he never let the obstacles
he faced defeat him and he refused to sacrifice his lifestyle to his limitations. His strength and
dignity during trying times was an inspiration to all who knew him.

In addition to his bride of 37 years, Leslie Ann (perry) Sliva, Steve is survived by his daughter
Megan Elizabeth of Erving, his son Michael also of Erving, his darling granddaughter Ariel, and
his brother Armand "Butch" (Robin) Brault of Summerville, South Carolina.

Mourning his loss are his 'brothers in arms', Christopher (Kathy) Perry of Turners Falls, Robin
"Bob" (Michelle) Perry of Naples Florida, Wid (Susan) Perry of Greenfield, and James "Jamie"
Perry of Erving. Also grieving his loss is his mother in Law Ann Robinson Perry of Greenfield,

his nephew John (Magda) Gates, his brother in law Charlie Sakowicz of South Deerfield, his
step-mother in law Patricia Delo of West Springfield, his sister in law Alison Perry of Gill, many
devoted nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors and cousins

Steve was predeceased by his parents, his sister Kathy Sakowicz, his father in law Neil L. Perry,
and his nephew Ryan Robinson Perry.
