Turners Falls- Robert H. Balboni, 64, of Montague Street died Monday June 19, 2017 at home. He was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts on May 27, 1953, the son of Henry and Catherine (McGrady) Balboni. He was a graduate of Turners Falls High School and attended Greenfield Community College.
Upon his high school graduation, Robert enlisted and served honorably in the United States Air Force in the Automatic Radar Tracking and Radio Repair fields. After his enlistment, he returned to the Greenfield area, working for Rugg Lumber Co. In 1979, he was hired by Western Mass Electric Company, working his way from meter reader to Hydro Station Maintenance Operator at Cabot Station, before retiring in 2009.
He was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary #3908, a member of BPOE (Elks) #2521 in Montague, the American Legion Post #0178 and the St. Stanislaus Society.
He enjoyed various pursuits, including metal detecting, bird watching, and people watching. He took several cruises to the Caribbean and vacationed in Mexico. He was a quiet, fun and affable person who was well-liked by most and his sudden and unexpected departure will leave those behind with wonderful shared memories.
Among his survivors, Robert leaves three sisters, Linda Wrisley of Greenfield, Christine Balboni (Jacob Miller) of Mission, TX, and Catherine Colomberti (Randy Crouch) of Indialantic, FL; an aunt, Anita Williams of Springfield, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal funeral services. Calling hours will be held Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 10am-12 noon at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls. Burial will be at held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11am at St. Mary's Cemetery in Turners Falls,MA
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
