My deepest sympathy and prayers are with you all.

I met Dick through Lauri Johnson, a colleague of mine at The Tech. Back in May, 2014, Dick wanted to build a Garden Shed for his wife Diane (he called her by a term of endearment that I don't remember now. Sky? Star?). He became our first customer for our new Backyard Shed Program. He was so excited we could build and deliver it to his home! He was especially enthusiastic about meeting the students and seeing them learn their trade during the project. He even jumped in on occassion to lend a hand. Dick and Diane were gracious customers, providing snacks and beverages for the students. He told us many stories of both his Navy career and his work in the nuclear power industry. Being a former training professional himself, he really connected with our outdoor learning environment. I remember Dick's kindness fondly and thought you might appreciate a few memories.

Dick was a loyal and congenial friend from our days of serving together on the USS George Washington Carver, through our careers at Vermont Yankee and into retirement. He loved to talk and took full advantage of having a literal captive audience on submarine patrols. I will always cherish following Dick on our motorcycle rides through the Berkshires where I was completely lost within a half hour but he knew all those country roads like the back of his hand. Farewell good buddy and rest in peace.
