Phyllis was a lovely, funny classmate of mine at Southington High. We were friends. How I wish we had stayed in touch after graduation. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Such a beautiful person.

Valerie, I am so sorry about your mom. She was a very special woman and a very good friend to me. I was so excited when she got on Facebook as I was looking forward to having more contact with her now that I live in New Hampshire. But sadly she has been taken from us too soon. I will always miss her wisdom and guidance and her always cheerful demeanor.

Phyllis was a long time member of our local Regional Employment Board and instrumental in our acquiring a grant from Northeast Utilities where she worked that gave access to students at the Franklin County Technical School in the Utilities field, which provided training and internships. Several students advanced and continued on in the field, some hired by NU. We remember her steadfast interest and advocacy for students and their need to continue their education. Our community thanks Phyllis for all she has done.

Valerie, no one will miss your mom quite like you do; but be assured, there are a lot of sad folks whose lives were touched by the one-and-only Phyllis Magoon. She was tough, sensitive, shrewd, compassionate AND passionate, rose in the ranks of a male dominated industry, served generously in her community far and wide; yet her greatest role and love was the raising of YOU.

I am so sorry for your loss. Phyllis was a classmate of mine at Southington High School. She was a wonderful girl. Lots of fun.
