Turners Falls- Norman E. Haigis, 85, of Hillside Road passed away Friday 5/4/18 at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Montague on June 6, 1932, the son of Erwin and Doris (Roseberry) Haigis. Norm attended Turners Falls High School before enlisting in the United States Navy. During his service, Norm was an active member of the Seabees and served during the Korean War.
Norm was a truck driver for many years, driving for Hathaway Bakery, Haigis Trucking, and Northampton Boston Trucking.
He was a member of the Ten Point Club in West Wardsboro, VT and a member of the Montague Lodge of Elks.
Besides his beloved wife of 65 years, Constance (Duffney) Haigis, Norm leaves a son, Fred Haigis and his wife Betsy Reffner of Jackman, ME; a daughter, Linda Buckner and her husband Dan of Browns Mills, NJ; a brother, Dick Haigis and his wife Pat of Gill; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Norm was predeceased by three siblings, Charlotte, Doris and Bud; and a grandson, Nathan Knox.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Millers Falls.
Calling hours will be held Thursday evening from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
