Montague- Kenneth F. Reil, 78, died peacefully on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family.
Kenneth was a devout Catholic. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, and prior to its closing, St. John’s Church in Millers Falls. Kenneth was an avid fan of Notre Dame Football, where he seldom missed a game, as well as kept an eye on his Patriots. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and a few close friends.
Kenneth was born in Montague on March 5, 1940 the son of the late Herbert and Helen (Marziar) Reil. He attended Montague schools, and enlisted in the United States Army where he served four years as a U.S. Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. He later spent 39 years working for Warner Bros Construction.
After leaving the military he married his wife of 54 years, Maryjane (Kurtyka) Reil. Together they have three daughters and one son, Suzanne Duarte (Brian) of Rhode Island, Cynthia Reil (William) of Greenfield, Melissa Bradley (Jason) of Turners Falls, and Jason Reil (Dana) of Mississippi. He leaves 8 grandchildren, Tim, Jennifer, Wade, Sara, Cameron, Lauren, Emmalee, and Andra, and one great grandson Landon.
He is also survived by two brothers, Richard and John, and three sisters, Helen, Karen, and Eileen, as well as several nieces and nephews. Kenneth was predeceased by three brothers, Herbert, Louis, and Francis.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday 7/18 at 9:15am from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Turners Falls.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday evening from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
