Dear Linda and family,
I first got to know Ken at Camp Apex when he arrived as the new Nature Instructor. He made camp and learning fun. Then in Sept. when school started, there he was....Mr. Slattery. He was tough but fair and always fun. He will be missed and discussed as usual during our reunion this year. My sympathies, Karen

Mr. Slattery was my chemistry and physics teacher in 1980 and 1981. His classes and his personality pulled me away from music and into the field of science. I got a degree in physics and came back to be a long-term sub for him in 1986 when he had some surgery. After a 14 year career in engineering I transitioned to teaching, and I have been teaching science, math, and engineering for 14 years now too. And in a heartfelt twist of fate, I am now teaching physics at TFHS -- the same position Mr. S. had all those years ago. I feel most honored; and I hope he does too.

Linda, little did I know that when I met "Slats" as an 18 year old kid working the night crew at the Greenfield DPW that our paths would cross again many years later through our love of plants at my garden center in Deerfield. You and Ken were some of my most favorite customers and became what I consider good friends. My love to you both, Kurt Richardson

I was a student of Mr. Slattery's back in 1980-81. I had him for Chemistry. I can definitely say that it was one of my favorite classes, mainly because of him. He was one of the coolest teachers in the building. One of my favorite teachers and he will be missed. It was nice to see all of the other activities he engaged in outside of teaching. Prayers and thoughts to his family at this difficult time.

Mrs Slattery--
I'm so sorry to learn of Mr Slattery's passing. It makes me so sad to hear this. He was the best of the best for me at TFHS. Just a few days ago I was telling my boys ages 6 and 9 about my awesome teacher and how he taught us tricks to memorizing the periodic table of elements. They thought I was crazy to think it was cool to memorize such a thing (somehow Mr Slattery made it that way!) but my oldest said, Mom he sounds like he was a fun teacher. That he was. I'll miss seeing him around town at various events. He always had a smile and a hug for me. My condolences to your daughters and your whole family. I will be sure to pass on his wisdom and love for all things chemistry to my boys. ❤️❤️
