Kim, Robin & Jackie:
My sincere condolences on the passing of your father. He was such a fun and lively personality. I loved spending time at your house as a child - Uncle Jack was always fun to be around. I'm sure he will be missed beyond measure. May he rest in peace. God bless.

I am so sorry for your loss. May the words of our loving heavenly Father bring your family comfort and strength during this most difficult time as He promises to bring our loved ones back to life in a perfect world where there will be no more suffering or death (John 5:28-29 & Revelation 21:4).

Our sincere sympathy on the passing of your Dad....he was a distant relative from the Woodlock side of the family (my Grandmother) and we reconnected years later through Thomas' as well as Betty when she was a school nurse during our children's early years...What a fun, sweet gentleman Jack was! He is now with the love of his life, Betty, having a well deserved cocktail or two...

Some of my earliest and best memories were of Jack, he had the ability to get into his niece's little heads and be truly a part of their childhood he liked the Saturday morning cartoons and reading the "Funny Papers" to my little self. On holidays the only reason you would find him in the kitchen on Vernon St was to steal the skin from the turkey and believe me he took no prisoners where his favorite foods were concerned. As a 20 something his foods couldn't touch or something terrible would happen. Betty quickly put on her nurses cap and informed him that he would be perfectly safe and nobody ever heard about foods not touching again
When I babysat for his kids he'd drive me to school in the morning and always have my day off to a great start with his sense of the ridiculous.
Jack and Betty were there for every milestone in my life , when I went off to Nursing School they sent care packages, one notable one was obviously packed by Betty, a metal saltine container with peanut butter and crackers and dollar bills and rolls of dimes because she knew what a student needed to survive in the dorm, Jack, on the other hand sent a three foot tall inflatable Seagrams bottle that was featured in many of our dorm pictures !
Jack talked his less athletic brother into playing basketball at the Y and I remember Dad coming home and saying how Jack's shoulder had dislocated during one game so he called time walked over to the wall, placed his shoulder against it , relocated the shoulder and came back to the game ! In his later years he used to play doubles with Dr. Mc Lelland (Wild Bill ) after both were well beyond playing singles. Jack fell with a broken hip and he used to get a great kick out of telling anyone who would listen that his friend the doctor played the point before checking to see if he was ok !
Jack, I' ve loved you since the days when you had a wonderful head of hair and I will miss kissing the top of your head and teasing you about how things are going in the hollow tree. To Kim, Robin and Jackie, your Dad was one of the good guys , but you alread knew

Mike catalano

We extend our deepest condolences to the Kirkwood family and friends. The Holy Scriptures give us comfort and hope. Our lord, Jesus Christ said in John 5:28: "Do not be amazed at this for the hour is coming in which all those in the "memorial tombs" will hear his voice and come out." Knowing of a resurrection and being able to see our loved ones again in the near future can give us comfort and hope. You can read more words of consolation from The Bible at: www.jw.org. We sincerely hope that these words can soothe your hearts.
Sincerely, Mike Catalano
Expression of Sympathy
