JoAnne Estelle Lobik (Pendergast) "Mimi", 72, of Greenfield Massachusetts passed away peacefully at UMass Memorial Hospital, January 18th, 2019 with family by her side. She was born March 10th, 1946 in Holyoke, Massachusetts to William and Estelle Pendergast. JoAnne married her high school sweetheart John, whom she graduated from Holyoke High School with in 1964. They married May 13, 1967 before moving to Greenfield to raise three children Jennifer, Meredith, and John "Jason". JoAnne was a hard, dedicated worker. She graduated with honors from Providence school of Radiology. She worked as a radiology technician at Baystate Franklin Hospital for over 35 years as well as Spafford Hall and a private physicians office. JoAnne loved life. Her presence lit up a room with her contagious bright smile. Strangers were instantly attracted to her. She was very intelligent, sharing her experiences and interesting stories. Her loving heart was always open, taking in friends of her children in times of need, offering guidance and support to the many teenagers that passed through her home. She and her husband were active in Marriage Encounter, becoming leaders and speakers. They were devoted to their church, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenfield. JoAnne loved spending time with family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a Brownie leader and enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She was adventurous and loved travelling to Wells Beach, Maine, Arizona, and the White mountains of New Hampshire. Reading and puzzles were a daily activity. She is preceded in death by her parents William and Estelle Pendergast. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John. Children Jennifer (Leslie Springer), Meredith Lagoy, and John "Jason" (Lisa). Grandson Jakob Lagoy, granddaughters Mackenzie "Mack" Lagoy, Emma and Abigail "Abby". Brother WIlliam "Billy" F. Pendergast III, sisters MaryBeth Pendergast, Karen (Pendergast) DuPre (Kenneth), and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service will be held Saturday (1-26-19) at 9:15 AM from Kostanski Funeral Home 220 Federal St. followed by a Liturgy of Christian at 10 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. Timothy Campoli pastor officiating. Calling hours will be held Friday (1-25-19) from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
