Montague-----Jean E. (Lowell) O’Hara, 80, of Federal St. died Sunday (2-25-18) at home. She was born August 20, 1937 in Montague the daughter of Harry and Dora (Jackson) Lowell. Jean attended local schools and was a graduate of Turners Falls High School Class of 1955.
Jean retired from Warner Brothers/Delta Sand and Gravel after working there for 60 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Montague, serving on the Finance Committee and as cashier for church suppers and the food booth at Montague Old Home Days. Jean served as treasurer of the Elm Grove Cemetery Association for over 20 years. She was also the treasurer for the Montague Historical Society.
Jean loved her cat Blacky (Big Boy). She enjoyed the church choir music and visiting with friends during fellowship time after church. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and liked to read. Jean brightened everyone’s day with her wonderful, warm smile.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald on September 22, 2009.
Jean leaves her sister Joan Pratt; two nieces, Marsha Gray and her husband Ray and their children, Brendon and Brianna, all of Ashfield, and Norma LaBelle and her husband Curt of Buckland; six nephews, Paul Willis and his wife Judy of Buckland and their children, Melissa (Adam) Griffin of Buckland, Betsey (Jim) Clifford and their son, Lincoln of Stoughton, and Sarah (Matt) Vasil and their son Sammy of Litchfield, NH, Brian Willis and his wife Kim and their children, Joshua and Jacob, all of Greenfield, David Putnam and his wife Lois of Ashfield and their children, Amy of Greenfield and Jason of Colorado, Dennis Putnam and his wife, Sondra of Greenfield and their children, Jenn of Easthampton and Laura of Milton, Vermont, Gary Pratt and his partner Dan Stone of Hudson, Jeffrey Pratt and his son Logan of Millers Falls; and a cousin, Nancy Franklin and her husband Keith of Greenfield and Florida.
Services for Jean will be held Saturday (3-3-18) at 11AM at the First Congregational Church of Montague. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
