Greenfield- Jane E. (Fleury) Miller, 78, died Thursday 3/29/18 at the Buckley Health Care Center in Greenfield. She was born in Greenfield on May 8, 1939, the daughter of Dr. Wilfred and Mildred (Miller) Fleury. Jane attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School. She continued her education and was the first woman to graduate from Mount Holyoke College with an Art History degree. She was always taking continuing education classes, finishing her education by receiving her Doctorate in Psychology.
Jane taught high school and community college and worked in many social services in the area, including MSPCC, CSO and others.
She always had dogs and cats, which she loved so much. In her earlier years, she loved owning and riding horses.
Jane loved art and was very artistic, which became a hobby in her later years. She enjoyed dining out as well as hosting and cooking at home with friends and family. Jane had an infectious smile and was always happy to see people. Her home was always so comfortable and inviting.
Jane spent a lot of time throughout her life on Nantucket, as a young woman and later with her husband and children. Throughout her life, she would vacation there to be with lifelong friends and one of her wishes was to have some of her ashes brought there.
Among her survivors, Jane leaves two sons, Adam Provost and Stuart Provost; her former husband of twenty years, Richard Provost; a grandson, Jacob, all of Greenfield; and cousins, friends, and past colleagues.
Jane’s family would like to thank the numerous health care assistants that have taken care of her at home over the past 8 years, until Jane went to the Buckley Healthcare Center this past August. A sincere thank you also to the staff at the Buckley Healthcare Center and to Hospice of Franklin County for their care and compassion shown to Jane.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday 4/7 at 10am at the Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls with the Rev. Stanley Aksamit officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
