James F. Deveney, 69, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2017 in Largo, FL.  He was born in Greenfield, MA on July 29, 1948 to the late John and June (Lavoie) Deveney.  James “Jamie” grew up in Turners Falls, MA and graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1966.  He worked for J.A. Jones Construction for many years as a Payroll Supervisor and worked on projects in Georgia, North Carolina, and Saudi Arabia.  He was last employed by B.L. Harbert International, LLC as an Administrative and Finance Manager, where he managed the administrative and financial functions on the construction of U.S. Embassy buildings in several countries in Africa, as well as in the countries of Georgia and Guatemala.

Jamie was an avid golfer, which he started playing in high school and continued playing throughout his life.  He also loved warm weather, sunshine, and the ocean, so after retiring in 2015 after working overseas for 15 years he decided to move to New Port Richey, FL to enjoy these things and to be near his sister Colleen and brother-in-law Larry. 

Jamie is survived by his daughters, Lisa Deveney of Holyoke, MA and Michele Deveney of South Hadley, MA; his step-sons, Joshua Owens of Manhattan, NY and Nathan Owens and his wife Francesca of Charlotte, NC; his sisters, Colleen Gusmano and her husband Larry of New Port Richey, FL, Mary Mauro and her husband Frank of Ridgefield, CT, and the late Kathie Ward and her late husband Dick; his brother John Deveney of Turners Falls, MA; his grandchildren, Nathan and Nicholas Deveney of Topsham, ME and Ryan Owens of Charlotte, NC; and his dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be Saturday (9-9-17)  at 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenfield. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. A calling hour will be from 8:30-9:30am at Kostanski Funeral Home 220 Federal St.
