Helen M Wollender

Helen M. Wollender, 91, of Greenfield passed away Saturday November 3, 2018 at home. She was born in Northfield on September 28, 1927, the daughter of Valeria and John Mankowsky. She was the seventh of ten children.
Helen was educated in the Northfield school system. After moving to Greenfield, she was employed by the Greenfield Tap & Die. In later years, she was employed by the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
She was a member of the former Sacred Heart Church, including it's guild and the choir. Helen was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church in Greenfield.
Helen was married to Chester Wollender in 1949. He predeceased her in September 2010, after sixty one years together.
Helen enjoyed her flower gardens, working outside, cooking, reading, and knitting. She loved family gatherings around the kitchen table at the farm, especially at Christmas and Easter.
Among her survivors, Helen leaves her two children, Ann Smith of Gilbert, AZ and Mark Wollender of Greenfield; three grandchildren; one great grandson; and two brothers, Ralph of Turners Falls and John of West Springfield.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 11/7 at 10am at Holy Trinity Church, 133 Main Street, Greenfield. Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in Greenfield.
There will be no calling hours.
