Helen M. (Sobolewski) Plizga

February 7, 1922 ~ September 5, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Helen M. Plizga, 95, formally of Greenfield, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, September 5th at the Baypointe Nursing Care Center in Brockton, Mass.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Stanley M. Plizga.  She resided on Eastern Avenue until moving to Randolph, Mass in 2003 to be closer to her son.   Helen was one of eight children of Apolonia (Mikos) and Josef Sobolewski.  She was preceded in death by her brothers Stanley, Johnny and Eugene Sobolewski and two sisters Victioria Klepadlo and Mary Yezierski.  She is survived by two sisters, Jessie Pietraszek and Millie Wazaleski.

Helen is survived by her son Tony and his wife Mary Jane (Kirkwood) Plizga of Randolph, Mass, two grandsons Jeffrey Plizga of Attleboro and Brian Plizga and his wife Michelle of Weymouth, four great-grandchildren Abigail, Victoria and William Plizga of Attleboro, Mass and Evanya Plizga of Weymouth, Mass, and several nieces and nephews.

Helen was a graduate of Turners Falls High School, Class of 1939.  Helen worked at Millers Falls Tool in Greenfield and then for Ingersoll Rand when they moved to South Deerfield.  Helen enjoyed reading and doing puzzle books.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Friday 9/8 at 11am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 221 Federal Street, Greenfield with the Rev. Timothy Campoli officiating.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Greenfield.

A calling hour will be held Friday morning from 9:30-10:30am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross, Pioneer Valley Chapter,  506 Cottage Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
