Frank Elwell, 76, of Franklin Rd. died Tuesday (1-15-19) at home. He was born in Bennington Vt. September 23, 1942 the son of Albert F and Louise (Pellerin) Elwell.
Frank attended local school there and was a graduate of Bennington High School, Class of 1960. He enlisted into the US Navy in June of 1962. He was honorably discharged in August 1966. Frank then enlisted to the US Army where he attained the rank of Master Sargent. He served for 20 years. He then became a Vermont State Trooper for 7 years. Frank went to become an investigator for the State of Vermont in the Department of Liquor Control.
He enjoyed time spent with family and friends, being outdoors and hunting.
Frank leaves his wife Sharon (Vesper) of 51 years. His son Mark of Derby, VT., his brothers, Al Elwell of Northfield, VT., and Ron Elwell of Bennington, Vt., two granddaughters, Meredith and Allison and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son Michael in May 2000.
Services will be held Friday (1-18-19) at 9:15am from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St. Greenfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at Blessed Sacrament Church with Rev. Timothy Campoli pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery assisted by the Northfield VFW Post 9874 with Military Honors. Calling hour will be held Thursday (1-17-19) from 4-6pm at the funeral home.
