Bernardston – Eunice L. (Freniere) Wysk, 84, of Brattleboro Road died Sunday March 11,2018 at home. She was born in Montague on September 7, 1933, the daughter of Joseph Henry Freniere (1896-1953) and Lillian Agnes Fontaine (1902-1958 ). She grew up in Turners Falls and attended local schools .
She married Wallace Wysk on September 15, 1951 and they lived and traveled in many states during their 66 years of marriage. They moved to Bernardston in 1965 where they remained. Their love and devotion to each other and their family was an inspiration to many and an example of what a marriage should be.
Though homemaker was her" official job title", she was so much more. A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, gardener, avid reader, music lover and world class cook to her family.
She was a strong person and as Wallace was off serving our country in the Navy aboard ship, she handled things on her own at home. She enjoyed caring for her home and especially her family.
Eunice leaves three daughters, Linda Maffioli of California, Donna Reynolds and her husband Ken of Orange, and Susan Lahaski and her husband Brian of Bernardston; two sons, David and his wife Tamara of Indiana, and Kenneth and his wife Christina of Bernardston; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren; a brother Alfred Freniere his wife Jan of Rhode Island, a sister Thelma Tetreault and her husband Maurice"Moe" of Chicopee, and numerous extended family members. She was predeceased by her husband, Wallace “Wally” Wysk on January 9, 2018; two sons, Wallace S. Wysk ( July 27,2015) and Robert A. Wysk ( Aug. 18,2004 ); and a granddaughter Elissa Lahoski ( May 26,2017).
(excerpt from the poem “ A Vow” by granddaughter Corrie Amsden )
The collateral beauty to love all life long
There’s no desire to live when the other is gone
With part of her missing and no will to go on
She honored her promise when God called her home
From a black and white photo, we know heart and soul
Two spirits left separate, have now been made whole.
