Elizabeth E. (Robarge) Adams

Erving- Elizabeth E. (Robarge) Adams, 91, of Wells Street died Thursday 2/9/17 at home with loved ones by her side.  She was born in Greenfield on November 8, 1925, the daughter of George and Flora (MacLean) Robarge. She attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1943.  Elizabeth then continued her education at the Springfield Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1947.   While there, she entered into the Cadet Nursing Program during World War II.  She, along with her husband Collis, was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and together they sailed for twenty years in the Gulf of Maine, including sailing from Maine to New York City for the rededication of the Statue of Liberty by Ronald Reagan. 

Elizabeth married her beloved husband Collis J. Adams on October 27, 1951. 

Elizabeth was a Registered Nurse in Springfield, Boston, Los Angeles, Detroit and Greenfield.  She was extremely active in the Erving community and was the first woman in Franklin County elected as a Selectwoman in her hometown of Erving.  In her earlier years, Elizabeth was a Scout leader and a PTA member.  She later became a school volunteer and a member of the Erving senior center.   She and her husband enjoyed travelling extensively through the United States and abroad.

Among her survivors, Elizabeth leaves a daughter, Sarah Meuse and her husband William (Danny) of Erving; three sons, Collis and his wife Laura of Goffstown, NH, Christopher and his wife Sharon of Ledyard, CT and Ethan of Fitchburg; ten grandchildren, Ryan Meuse and his wife Kellie of Leyden, Elizabeth Meuse of Springfield, VT, Rebecca Easton and her husband Tom of Erving, Collis Adams of Goffstown, NH, Kelsey  Adams of Nashua, NH, Zachary Adams and his wife Samantha of Lewisville, TX, Benjamin Adams and his wife Kayla of Manhattan, NY, Seth Adams and his wife Elyse of Arvada, CO, and Rachel and Hannah Adams, both of Fitchburg; three great grandchildren, James Leclerc of Erving and Aaron and Ryder Meuse, both of Leyden; and a brother, James Robarge and his wife Janet of Sebring, OH.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 2/15 at 5pm at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls.  Burial will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family.

A calling hour will be held Wednesday evening from 4pm until the time of the service at the funeral home.
