Donna J. (Magoon) Dove

Conway- Donna Jean (Magoon) Dove, 71, of Conway passed away Thursday 4/5/18 at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, surrounded by her loving family.

Donna was born in Greenfield, MA on November 3, 1946, the daughter of Delmar and Dorothy (King) Magoon of Bernardston, MA.  Donna attended Pioneer Valley Regional High School where she enjoyed basketball, chorus and business courses.  She graduated in 1964.  She also attended Greenfield Community College where she earned an associate’s degree in accounting in 1982.  While raising her three children she was employed at several area businesses including Wilson’s, Bill’s Restaurant, the Four-Leaf Clover, Erving Paper Company and in 1985 was hired by the Department of Political Science at the University of Massachusetts where she worked until her retirement on June 30, 2013 after 28 years.  Donna loved her position as Graduate Program Manager and took great pride in her students, “her kids”, who she helped through the graduate program to see them receive their degrees and go off into the world.  She was so proud to know that she had a network of friends not only nationally but internationally and through the internet was able to keep in touch with many of them.

She was a member of the United Church of Bernardston where she, her parents and her daughter, Denise, were all married.  She sang in the church choir for several years and always enjoyed singing.  In 1987 she moved to Conway where she developed a love for flower gardening and took great pride in her yard.  She loved computers, music, flowers, horses, knitting, working with her hands, building and creating things and, above all, her family.  Donna adored her two cats, Elvis and Priscilla.

Donna is survived by three children; Denise and her boyfriend Jody Ball; her #1 granddaughter Michelle of Turners Falls; David and his wife Laurie of Whately; and Derek and her #1 grandson Dalton of Conway; a brother, Charles and his wife Louise of Yucaipa, CA, two nieces; Heather and her husband Christian of Yucaipa, CA; Shannon and her husband, Gary of Yucaipa, CA; and a nephew Christopher and his wife Julie of Westminster, CA along with several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday 4/9 at 11am at the United Church of Bernardston, 58 Church Street, Bernardston with the Rev. David Neil officiating.  Burial will follow at Center Cemetery in Bernardston.

Calling hours will be held Sunday afternoon from 2-4pm at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls.
