GREENFIELD - Donald ""Mike"" A. Choiniere, 74, of Green River Road died Sunday 9/24/17 at the Poet's Seat Health Care Facility in Greenfield. He was born in Greenfield on August 3, 1943, the son of Donald D. and Norma (Pelkey) Choiniere. Mike attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1962.
Mike worked as a mechanic for the Town of Greenfield for forty years before his retirement in 2010.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garage where he had a knack for finding a solution for almost any problem he came across. He was known and loved for his outspokenness, his quick comebacks, and also his willingness to lend a helping hand.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Bertha (Adams); his sons, Brian and Butch (wife Mary) Choiniere, all of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Donald Joslyn, Brandon, Katelyn and Jessica Choiniere; and five great grandchildren.
Mike was predeceased by a son, Robert Choiniere in 2013, a brother, Douglas Choiniere and a sister, Margaret ""Peggy"" Kyser.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday 9/27 at 11 a.m. at Green River Cemetery in Greenfield.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday morning from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield.
