Millers Falls- Daniel D. Van Valkenburgh, 78, of Crescent Street passed away Tuesday 10/2/18 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Greenfield on May 6, 1940, the son of Dana and Adelaide (Ayer) Van Valkenburgh. Dan was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1957.
He served in the United States Air Force in San Antonio, TX as an SP.
He was employed at Ingersol Rand for forty two years before his retirement.
Dan enjoyed golfing, fishing and doing crossword puzzles on the porch with his cat, Bonnie, by his side. He enjoyed taking care of his grandchildren, especially Kaden, who always kept him on his toes.
Besides his wife of fifty one years, Mary Lou (Collette) Van Valkenburgh, Dan leaves two sons, John and his wife Darlene of Greenfield and Joseph and his wife Dee of North Carolina; two step daughters, Pam Collier and her husband Robert of Palmer, AK and Donna Goff and her husband Gary of Olympia, WA; a brother, James Van Valkenburg of Greenfield as well as eleven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday 10/10 at 2pm at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam with full military honors to be observed by the United States Air Force.
There will be no calling hours.
