Charles F. Barrett II

Dover, New Hampshire – Charles F. Barrett ll of Dover, NH passed away Friday, July 28, 2017.  Chuck was born on January 19, 1958 on Naval Air Station Bermuda; the son of Charles F. Barrett and the late Irene (Czerwinski) Barrett.

Chuck attended several schools across the country due to his father’s various deployments in the USMC.  He was an accomplished athlete.  In the Boy Scouts, Chuck attained the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 13.  Later on in his teens he played drums in Barry’s Band and loved rock music.

Chuck was a graduate of Greenfield High School, Class of 1976 and attended Greenfield Community College for a semester before he enlisted in the United States Air Force.  He started his career in the Air Force as a Recreation Specialist with Morale, Welfare and Recreation at Bergstrom AFB, Austin, Texas.  He then became a Recruiter and was stationed in South County, RI where he traveled up and down the eastern seaboard for his duties.  Chuck received many awards for excellence in the recruiting field.  He retired as a Technical Sergeant in Portsmouth, NH after 20 years of service. 

Chuck enjoyed vintage Corvettes and Harley Davidson motorcycles He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Dover, NH.   He volunteered his time at the Dover Children’s Home and the New Hampshire Veterans Home. Chuck had a mischievous smile, wonderful sense of humor and was a great practical joker.

Chuck leaves behind four daughters; Dawn L. Barrett of Boston, Staff Sgt. Brandi L. Barrett (ANG), Nikki J. Barrett and Alli I. Barrett of Kittery, ME; his father Charles F. Barrett of Greenfield, MA; two sisters, Leilani LaClaire of West Boylston, MA, Kelli Dobosz and her husband, Jonathan of Greenfield, MA; and a brother, Joseph Barrett of Greenfield, MA.  He also leaves behind an aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Chuck was predeceased by his mother Irene Barrett in 2011. 

A memorial graveside service will be held Friday 8/11 at 10am at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery in Greenfield.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Dover Children’s Home 207 Locust Street, Dover, NH  03820 or New Hampshire Veterans Home, 139 Winter Street, Tilton, NH  03276.
