Kathryn B. (Bartos) Parda

Kathryn (Bartos) Parda, 96, formerly of South Deerfield, died on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility in Greenfield.  Born in South Deerfield on January 7, 1928, she was the daughter of Alexander and Katherine (Burek) Bartos.  Kathryn attended local schools in South Deerfield and was a graduate of Deerfield High School, Class of 1946.

Kathryn loved her family; she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband of seventy-three years, Chester J. Parda. She leaves three children, James Parda (Elizabeth) of Coventry, CT, Carol Corron (Alan) of Sutton, MA, and Steven Parda (Patricia) of Waukesha, WI; ten grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua, Jordan, Anne, Lisa, Philip, Rebecca, Michael, Adam, and Claire; three great grandchildren, Brody, Ellie, and Autumn; and several nieces and nephews.  Kathryn was predeceased by her siblings, Albeena, Andrew, Amelia, Frances, William, Josephine, Alexander, Roman, Lena, and Edwin.

Kathryn was a hairdresser by trade, but you could also find her baking delicious breads and pies, making pierogis, crocheting, picking blueberries and strawberries, or working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She found joy in spending time with her family.

Kathryn was a faithful, lifelong communicant of Holy Family Church in South Deerfield. At Holy Family Church, she was a Bingo volunteer and she cared for the church’s flower gardens for many years.  Kathryn was a member of St. Anne’s Sodality.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday 4/9 at 11AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 29 Sugarloaf Street, South Deerfield, MA, 01373.  Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in South Deerfield.

A calling hour will be held Tuesday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090-6011.
