Gregory N. Walko, 73, passed away peacefully Thursday March 21, 2024 at Baystate Franklin Medical Center surrounded by family. He was born January 6, 1951 to George and Jennie (DeNofrio) Walko. Greg attended local schools and graduated from Greenfield High School Class of 1969.
He worked for the Greenfield Recorder for many years before taking his talents to Erving Paper Mills, where he was an amazing Graphic Artist. He later retired as head of the Custodial Department at Lunt Silversmith.
When Greg was younger, he was a member of the Franklin County League of Sportsmen where he enjoyed shooting skeet. He was also a member of the local dart league and played softball at Abercrombie Field. His hobbies included fishing, rabbit and deer hunting. During his retirement, he loved nothing more than playing cornhole with his son, Christopher. Additionally, Greg was a remarkably talented musician, and played the accordion, guitar, banjo, mandolin, harmonica and drums. He was a proud member of the band, Seven Mile Line, and loved to perform.
Besides his parents, Greg was predeceased by his son, Christopher and leaves behind his daughter; Katelyne Walko, his step-son Ryan Adams; siblings Carol (Lester) Reed, Barbara (Daniel) Griffiths, Kevin (Andrew) Walko, James Walko and his beloved grandchildren; Thomas, Mary and Rylyne Adams, nieces and nephews; Adam Reed, Erinn Walko, Jennifer Livingston, Nicholas and Chad Wetterwald, Jamie and Sarah Walko, his uncle Louis DeNofrio and his former wife Terry (Stephen) Walk, as well as many cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date and time.
