Francis J. Zak Sr.

Francis J. Zak Sr., 83, of Blandford Road died Thursday March 7, 2024 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. He was born in Montague April 4, 1940, the son of Joseph and Anna (Dlugosz) Zak. Fran attended local schools and graduated from Turners Falls High School in 1957. He retired as a powerplant engineer from Strathmore Paper after 42 years. He then completed his retirement with another 12 years at Callaway Golf.
Fran enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with family, as well as his life partner.
Francis leaves his children; Sheri Johnson and her husband Harry, Francis Jr. and his wife Susan all of Westfield along with his grandchildren; Shannon, Brandyn, Cherie, Zachary and Leland, his siblings; Joseph Zak and Evelyn Gochinski both of Turners Falls and Shirley Webb and her husband Ashley of Greenfield as well as his life partner Diann Odell of Dalton, he was predeceased by Helen Christian of Turners Falls; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Friday March 22, 2024 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery. 
A calling hour will be held Friday morning from 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM at Kostanski Funeral Home 1 Kostanski Square Turners Falls.
