Turners Falls - Stacia M. (Sojka) DeMeo, 93, of Montague City Road died Wednesday 7/20/16 at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility in Greenfield.  She was born in Montague on October 21, 1922, the daughter of Jacob and Mary (Siciak) Sojka.  She was a graduate of Turners Falls High School Class of 1940.  

Stacia worked as a clerk at the Greenfield Tap & Die for seventeen years until her retirement in 1984.  Prior to that, she worked as a sorter for the Strathmore Paper Company; in the clerical office at the Millers Falls Tool Company; and in the Student Accounts Department at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Turners Falls and a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality.  

Stacia was a very strong willed and independent women, and very proud of her Polish heritage.  She was an avid reader, she enjoyed traveling, gardening, feeding and watching her backyard birds, as she loved all animals.  Visiting with friends and family, especially her great grandchildren gave her the most joy.

Among her survivors, Stacia leaves three daughters; Mary F. Sonosky and her husband Richard of Alstead, NH; Susan V. Toczko and her husband Allan of Washington, NH; and Elizabeth A. Fitz and her husband David of Greenfield, MA; two grandsons, Michael and Russell Sonosky; two granddaughters, Melissa Toczko and Heather Renaud; eight great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Stacia was predeceased by her beloved husband of thirty-six years, Louis F. DeMeo in 1982, two brothers, Edward and Paul Sojka and two sisters, Antoinette Fondakowski and Victoria Kowalski.

Funeral Services will be held Monday 7/25 at 9:15 from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church with the Rev. Charles J. DiMascola and Rev. Stanley J. Aksamit officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Turners Falls.

Calling hours will be held Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4pm at the funeral home.
