Phyllis M. (Bergeron) Pierce

Greenfield- Phyllis M. (Bergeron) Pierce, 71, of Sunrise Ave died Tuesday 2/21/17 at home.  She was born on June 9, 1945 in Jamaica, NY, the daughter of Philip J. and Elida E. (Bosslet) Bergeron.  Phyllis was a resident of Greenfield for most of her life and was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1963. 

Phyllis married her beloved husband, Donald G. Pierce on November 10, 1995.  He predeceased her in December of 2016.

She was the office manager at Holy Trinity Church in Greenfield for twenty six years, before retiring in 2011. 

 Phyllis was a devoted communicant of Holy Trinity Church where she was a CCD teacher, Lector, a member of the decorating committee, the Spiritual Life Commission, the Outreach Committee where she would deliver communion to those who were homebound, was involved in Thursday night community meals and was past president of the Rosary Society. 

In her earlier years, Phyllis was a volunteer in the public school system and a chairperson for Class Reunions for the Class of 1963.  She was a member of the Greenfield Emblem Club #43 and held the offices of Vice President, Press Secretary and Historian. 

Phyllis enjoyed sewing, reading, knitting, crocheting, gardening and spending time at the beach.

Among her survivors, Phyllis leaves two daughters, Jill M. Linnell and her husband Douglas and Sara J. Haselton and her husband Danny, all of Greenfield; three grandsons, Zackary and Colby Avery and Nate Haselton; a granddaughter, Katie Haselton; a sister, Jo-Ann Morton and her husband Warren of Northampton; a brother, Joseph P. Bergeron and his wife Robin of Greenfield and many aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews.

Besides her husband Don, Phyllis was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Diane J. Payant.

Funeral services will be held Monday 2/27 at 9:15am from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am at Holy Trinity Church, 133 Main Street, Greenfield with the Monsignor Ronald Yargeau as the principal celebrant.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Greenfield. 

Calling hours will be held Sunday afternoon from 1-4pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Parish Renovation Fund, 133 Main Street, Greenfield, MA, 01301 or to the Warm the Children Fund, c/o The Recorder, 14 Hope Street, Greenfield, MA 01301.
